After having a very leaky and crunchy gearbox on the Golf, I was quite pleased to find, when I drained it, that I'd only lost half a litre of oil, and not all of it as I suspected! Still haven't really pinpointed the exact place of the leak, but I've changed the oil, and hoping It'll be less crunchy now! Also did an engine oil and filter change while the car was jacked up, just to keep the golfdoctor happy! Hark at him - sounding like he knows what he's doing!!! ;D ;D ;D

Good to see you've managed to find the time to sort the old girl out! Hopefully won't be long before the golfdoctors mobile again!

Weeeellll. i've done nothing but in GolfDOctor stylee i thought i'd throw up some piccies and chat bout my new kit. SO here is the BRAND NEW Rancho Performance early to late clutch release bearing kit. the thing you are paying for is the newly engineered guide sleeve: it's so nicely made it seems a shame to put it in the bellhousing, but it will enable me to have a much stronger more reliable shift and clutch operation! It also comes with a heavy duty Cross shaft: you can compare it to the old one in this pic: note how the old one has the forks welded only at the bottom: the new one has a full circle around the shaft and is welded around as well AND has extra metal behind the shaft for extra strength! can't wait to get it on!!!

Today, after doing proper work, I had time to remove the Fuel distributor from the car. The Metering head has now been stripped from the rest of the unit which contains the air flow sensor plate etc, and is now soaking in cellulose thinners to remove all the gum and muck. The base of the unit has been given a quick clean and is now also in soak. Highlighted area shows what I'm talking about Lucy, that thingamabob bit inside the YELLOW circle Aw - thanks Nige - I was just saying to Andy, "What's Nige going on about?" when I saw your explanation just for me at the bottom - I now feel all special!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Picked up some headling material from vanwest at the weekend for the fasty. Marked out for the rods then sewn some chanels in. Then set about fitting it, i must say im quite pleased with it so far, not bad for a selfmade first atempt. Will try to find the time to finish it off tomorrow.

I did hit the bottom of the car on the ground twice! oops. I'm well pleased, it's working! Ok it's not on the new dells, but it's still amazing to have it working after 4 weeks off! YES!!!! s
