Hi Has anyone on the forum owned the Bug with the above registration. I have just finished restoring it for my son and thought any previous owners might like to know it is still alive.

FC its not a local Registration prefix, so I don't know if this is a local vehicle to the area. As your vehicle was originally registered in the Oxford area between 1 Aug 71 - 31 Jul 72.

Hi again You are correct about Oxford as we have the original service book etc with all the scheduled stamps in it. The car has been owned locally by at least three people, 1 in Irlingborough and 2 in Kettering. I know this as I have two sorn documents with addresses and my old neighbour bought it from someone in Kettering. I will get my son to post some pics as he has a few on his phone and will upload them. Unfortunately it failed the mot today as the front brakes were no good but after looking at them I suspect the master cylinder is for a 1302/3 even though it was described as T1 1300 on e-bay which is true in a sort of way. Hi My son will probably come to your meet as my mate Wayne from Desboro(blue camper) has told me all about it. Yes it is actually two choppers but the new type. I bought them for my boys but the bug owner has a lowrider and his Brother has a Stingray and both bikes have 26inch apehanger handlebars so the choppers do not get used. Tim

I try my best to be a know it all BTW my Golf was first registered in Sheffield of all places ;D Numbers plates work like this A123 BCD A =(year letter) 123 (reg #1-999) B (Reg letter A-Y) CD = ( Area code) BCD 123A (the same system in reverse to the above) pre 1958 numbers such as CD 1234 CD = (area code) 1234 = (Reg #) no year prefix

Hi - I just happened to Google the above registration number and found this post. That was MY car!! My first car! Bought her in 1989 and had to sell her on in 1997 when I had my first child. She was originally aqua blue when I got her (from an elderly lady who lived in Dorchester near Wallingford) and had a very low mileage. She had many adventures over the years, went on tour with a band, was my wedding car. She was sprayed Rose Pink in about 1993 and also had a reconditioned engine at some point. I sold her to a student nurse from Northampton. The number plate is an Oxford plate- which was very relevant as like her I was born in Oxford in 1971. By the way- her name is/was Betty Smellpot x I loved her dearly x
