OK so without standing on other peoples feet. Been thinking recently about the low attendances at recent meets and come to the conclusion that there must be a reason for this. From a personal point of view we often find it hard to attend due to not wanting to keep poppy up past her bed time, having both worked all day and not had time to eat and sometimes are just to tired from work. I'm sure this must also be a consideration with other family's with young ones. I have been involved with several clubs over the years that meet up on a Sunday afternoon. These have always had brilliant turn outs and attracted family's. Due to being in the day it also has a more laid back atmosphere and gains a lot of interest from the other pub users. Do you think it might be worth trying this with our club? What you think people?

I think you have a very valid point, Chris ...quite often Andy stays home with Ollie whilst I attend, or I bring Ollie along with me and he just has a late night. On the flip side though...weekend meets could also be problematic due to many people having other things on at weekends...visiting family/friends/going away on hols/shows etc. Maybe a compromise could be to keep the normal Tuesday meets, but also have a Sunday meet once every month or so as well. Does that sound like an option?

From the 66's point of view, with the best will in the world (Well with a pretty good will) I've been intending to come to an evening meet, but it's past Jacob's bedtime and one of us has to stay with him, as VW ownership is a joint thing between Hayley and me, I feel bad having to let her stay at home. I think the idea of a Sunday afternoon club meet, particularly over the spring/summer/autumn months would be excellent! We'd defo come, SO there's your first old timer saying that it would draw 3 dubthusiasts back into the bosom of the KUDC!

How about a Sunday Meet every third Sunday of the month?
Now to think about where to have it?
Maybe as we want it to be family friendly, we could find a pub still with a large car park, but also a safer area to hang about and chat...maybe even a play area to keep the kids happy?
Any ideas folks?

If its be spring/summer/autumn months how about different country parks, wickys etc then the kiddies get to run around and play or would that be more hassle due to the adults not able to chat as much?

We don't stand there all talking about vw's all night. It's only a few people in the club that know everything about vw's. Most of us just go because we like driving them and have a taste for beer Bring your mrs and kids to one if your anxious, we really dont bite, we'll not that I know of!

Half the people that attend the meets don't have vw's with them! I agree with Chris. We're a group of people who either have had, have got (on road or off!) or are just interested in VWs. Just come along and say hi. ;D We're quite a friendly bunch.
