Over the Bank Holiday, Us and the Spensters headed up to the 'Gathering off the Hill' show - put on by the Volkswigan Dub Club.
Headed off on Friday evening for the almost 4 hour trip up the M6.
We arrived at the show (about 7/8 miles outside of Southport) just before nightfall.
We set up camp, and headed down to see the entertainment. Enjoyed the very chilled version of Motorhead's 'Ace of Spades'!!!
We grabbed some food, and went and chilled back at camp for the evening.
The next morning, the sun was shining...
...so we though we would make the most of the good weather, and head into Southport for the day.
Got the bus from just outside the campsite, and headed to the seaside!! (Not that you can really ever see the sea at Southport...just lots and lots of sand!!)
Little Alex went on the Merry-go-round...
We then headed for Southport's 'Pleasureland'. To say the place lacked pleasure would be an understatement...it was like 'The Land that Time Forgot'!!!
And these were 'The Toilets that Time Forgot'!!
*I walked in and then straight back out again...not good!! *
We pootled round town for a bit, and stopped for something to eat in a nice pub.
We then got a taxi back to camp, where we headed out to see the much more upbeat band than the previous night's!!
When Alex had had enough...
..we headed back to camp, where Caroline and I stayed and nattered round the campfire...
...whilst the boys went back to listen to the band.
Despite the weather forecast for Sunday being rain...it was actually another beautiful day...
...so we headed down into the campsite (that time forgot!!) *Are you spotting a theme here? *
(To be fair...the pictures make it look alot better than it really was!)
...and decided to have a game of Crazy Golf...
...it appeared to be made up of lots of old Kid's rides, that were no longer in use!!
We then went and watched the Jet Ski's on the lake...
The gold man - bizarrely sat on a trailer outside the Golf Club...
Andy nicked Alex's bike - you're a bit too big for it really, Andy!
Had a cool time, despite coming across many places 'that time forgot'!!
