CAN ANYONE HELP ME. I AM LOOKING TO LOWER MY DUB (WHEN ITS BLEEDIN FINISHED). I WAS WANDERING IF ANY ONE KNOWS IF I CAN FIT SHORT SHOCKS TO THE FRONT OFMY BUG IF I FIT DROPPED SPINDLES ASWELL. I WANT TO LOWER IT AS MUCH AS I CAN WITHOUT FITTING A NARROWED FRONT BEAM. I AM ALSO GOING TO FIT LOW PROFILES AS WELL. IF ANYONE CAN ADVISE ME OR KNOWS ANYONE, ALL ADVICE WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

you at meet, we can chat then.... if you fit adjusters and set them low, shortened shocks are good. Empi ones GSF 30-40quid a pair is what i run they're fine! in reality without narrowing you cant go that low without serious rubbage! I'm making up a narrowed beam for JamieBee soon. It should be made in a pretty awesome and innovative way... if its great and not too much to do i'll do more. the trouble lies in the tyre fouling the arches. low-pros will help no end though! when you find a pair let me knoe where you get them from! i'm still looking to replace my (slightly worn) Toyo Proxes R888 low pro semi slicks! hehe pm me if you want to know more. steve

If you are fitting dropped spindles then you shouldn't need to fit short shocks. The idea of a set of dropped spindle is that the spindle is either welded (not good) or forged (good) higher up on the backing plate, therefore pushing the wheel higher into the arch, therefore lowering the front. It is designed like this so that the suspension geometry is not disrupted, and you get full suspension travel. I would recomend changing the shocks for either adjustable shocks or stiffer ones, but not shorter ones.
If you fit an adjustable beam, or just 'cut and turn' the beam, then yes you do need shorter shocks, as the travel in the suspension will be less as the whole spindle / backplate etc is moved further up in the arch, therefore reducing the travel in suspension, hence needing shorter shocks.
Hope this makes sence!!!

in answer to the 'where to get tyres question' i bought the toyo proxes tyres from hauser racing through a mate. though i did ask at orbit tyres in rushden and the guy there told me he could get similar profile tyres just a different brand as they where becoming very popular, and of course toyo are based in rushden anyway so worth an ask. very soft tyre though as steve66 will tell you.!!!! stevie, you would do well to have a think what wheels your gonna run as well as the offset can bugger things up no end!! stockers alway not a bad bet with low pro tyres and kinda cool as well!
