...gently home from Pod!!!!! As we were leaving the Retro Show today, the bus completely died!! We rolled/got pushed into the toilet area at the end of the track. A guy helped us out with the pushing, and then offered to tow me to try and jump start the van. This worked, but as soon as I put my foot on the clutch, she died again. We were going to phone for recovery, but when we said we lived locally, the guy helping us, offered to tow us home. So, Andy went in the guy's T25 to give directions, whilst I 'drove' the van behind. Being a 'Tow' virgin, this was veeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyy scary. Alot of swearing and pooing of the pants ensued , but we all got back in one piece. The guy even said I was better at being towed than most of the men he had towed. Girl Power Our saviour was a really nice guy, and wouldn't take any money for his trouble. So he was rewarded instead with a nice cup of coffee, and a promise of a few beers at Bug Jam if we see him there. It's nice to know that there are still people in this world who are willing to help others. (Jerry Springer style closing speech!!!)

Thanks. We actually had a stroke of good luck. I stopped earlier this evening to give a flyer to some lads working on a beetle in Rushden, only to find that I knew one of them from a while back. Anyway, he very kindly offered to come and take a look at the van. After an hour or so, I heard that beautiful sound of Vera firing up into life!!! So we're back on track again now. Took her out for a little run afterwards, and enginewise, she's doing well. The electrics are a bit out of sorts (Only 1 and a half head lights working, indicators are OK until you turn the lights on, then they go mental, they also stop working altogether when you put your foot on the brake...Oh the joys of VW wiring!!!!!), but Andy's going to have a nose, and try to sort them out. I'm just happy she's running again...at least she'll get us to Bug Jam!!!
