so.
i took my new (old) head to Martin at volksworld to see if any warpage, feeler guage said yes so took it over the road to automotive services for a reface.
left to go to school disco (in kettering) and before i'd even got there i got a call saying the head was done!!!
And he found that 2 valves need relapping!

ps,
i was well impressed, then when i went back to martin to collect the head, i ended up staying to help put an Audi A3 back together!
