I'm always on here trying to borrow things that squeeze springs and it's that time of week again soooooooo... does anyone have a spring compressor for suspension so as i can change the springs on my golf and fix a leaky shock on my (super) beetle? thanks steve

Hi mate, i can help you out on this one but there two types, i have a pair of spring compressors but you have to be very carefull using them as they can slip. you can use these to compress the spring while it's still on the car or off, i don't like using these for the reason i have given above. The other type you need to remove the spring and shock from the car as one unit if possible should be ok for the golf but not sure about the bug, you clamp this type in a vice and swing four arms into the spring and wind in the tool to compress the spring, a lot safer as you leaved the spring clamped while you remove the shock. If you want to borrow either give us a shout and i will show you how they work.
