Britons are likely to be treated to a spectacular display of heavenly fireworks tonight. Scientists are predicting the annual Perseid meteor shower will reach its peak this evening and during the early hours of Monday. It will be most apparent in the north-eastern part of the sky near the Perseus constellation. 'If we're lucky, we might see as many as 100 meteors an hour,' Dr Robert Massey, of the UK's Royal Astronomical Society said. A new moon will give rise to dark skies, enhancing visibility for those wanting to witness what promises to be a colourful astronomical phenomenon. Mimimal moonlight will mean that even faint meteors can be seen.
Hope the skies are clear enough...
...I'll certainly be looking out the bedroom window later!!
