Hi Guys, I would have preferred by first post to be slightly less dramatic, but I have just gone out in my 1971, 1500 dual Kadron bug and got about 50 yards down the road, and BANG, loss of power and awful knocking sound..............hmmm sound baaaad. I have pushed it to the side of the road and thought I would ask if anyone in the KUDC knows and a local (Pref Kettering) mechanic who knows Beetle engines and could hopefully breath life back into the old boy.............only had it 3 weeks GUTTED!! I would really really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction, as it is my only car so a bit Kettering bound until it is fixed.

Hello mate,had a similar experience myself recently.You could try ringing Paddyb,mobile mechanic on 07544750021 He loves aircooled.He rebuilt my engine,sweet. Good luck

Yeh no worries. Pictures attached, including the mean, but currently knackered engine!!! Going to drop the engine on Friday (first time for everything) and take it to be rebuilt....hopefully quickly!!   |

Oh yes, couple of bad boy Kadron carbs and a load of race parts, it is pretty quick....................for a bug, probably why it blew up  Hopefully back on the road soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

What spec is everything else?
you say 1500 singleport arent they usually?
Hope all is going well dude, if i was on holiday I'd pop over and rebuild it for you.
but i'm not...

Hi Steve, yes spot on it is a 1500 single port with dual Kadron 40 carbs (apparently very rare on a single port), SCAT C25 cam with scat followers, scat hi lift rockers on bolt up shafts,with scat swivel ball adjusters, dual thrust cam bearings, EMPI crank case breather, remote Fram racing oil filter, fully lightened and balanced with a Bugpack side exit exhaust. I cant take credit for the engine, it was built by a full on air cooled engine nut.............I dropped it on yesturday and it is now back with him being rebuilt, think it is the big end bearings!!
Cheers for the offer of help.......I may need a hand setting it up (carbs especially) and getting running sweet again once it is back in, so if you could give me a hand if I get stuck that would be wicked, I am in Kettering. I will PM my email address. Justin
