Most of these don't really apply unless you mod your vehicle but what the hell Tinted windows must let in 70% of available daylight, if this is not the case they have to be replaced. They (the Plodice) now have a special light meter to measure this by the side of the road (I wonder how much they cost each and how much tax payers money they wasted on them) Number plate must conform to the regulation laid down by the DVLA, VOSA regarding colour spacing and design for the year of manufacture of your vehicle. Its has always been illegal to have other style however since the introduction of the Automated Number Plate recognition system they are now enforcing this law, as the computerized system can't read other styles or colours, than those used at the present time. This has also been made an offense under the terrorism act so be warned. (I.E. to deliberately disguising a vehicles identity, in this case by altering the registration mark layout or design) Large bore exhaust systems, back boxes, and loud systems, have to be EEC or kite marked to conform to U.K. regulations there are noise levels laid down by VOSA, but at this moment in time there is no test on the MOT for this however this does not mean that MR plod can't stop you too check, so make sure your sports or performance system is U.K. approved before handing over the hard earned ca$h.
