What's the external diameter of the mid section, and what the internal diameter of the exhaust back box , both 8 v and 16v are different sizes, plus is this stock or some after market nasty chavy " fart in a baked bean can" , it its the latter don't bother fitting it, it screws up the back pressure and increase your fuel consumption and also when you gun the car some percentage of what goes out the tailpipe will be only part burnt. Plus in real terms unless your going to change the entire exhaust system including the manifold as well your not going to see much gain in horse power if any, as the larger bore is to increase volumetric gas flow, if the manifold is still the 1.3 size at the engine cylinder head, were the gases pressure is at its highest point, it is still going to be restricted to the same rate of flow through the manifold, as these gases are expelled from the combustion chamber. Also an exhaust system is designed to be a certain size for a good reason, the Stock diameter gives the best overall performance, and a reasonably balanced gases flow at low, mid and high rev ranges, high flow systems only work best if your going to thrash the engine all the time and with a 1.3 I don't think this would be advisable.

or if you just want it for looks.... it'll be a bigger bore than yours. use a beefy exhaust clamp and slide the new one over the old one then clamp em down!

Hmmmmmmmm Mr 66 If this is the case Liam, you may have to cut a series of slots (4) length ways on the New pipe so that it will form a flange, then when you fit the exhaust clamping bracket (u shackle) it will draw down the new pipe and clamped the tapered section to the original mid section pipe. Most back boxes have this the slots are normally cut about 2-3" in length so that the four tangs, will close up. If you going do this yourself remember you'll need a gap between the slots of about 1/8 of an inch to allow the tabs to close when you clamp to two sections together.
