Hey um im a bit stuck on my mk2 golf trying to remove the front springs. The two bolts that hold the arm on behind the disc at are solid, i have tried wd40, grease, spanners and a bleading big hammer. Starting to give up now but i cant because im on cut springs and have an mot coming up soon so got to get it done. Any help welcome thanks. Martyn

19mm spanner big lever! If you bring it to rothwell I can use my BIG breaker bar.. Otherwise heat would be good. You gonna fit coilys? I've got some standard springs u can borrow for MOT if you like!

As Andy stated if the nuts the problem rust or just tight, then heat Steve 66 forgets that on one of his we had to use the Oxy/acetylene on the nut to release the seal of the Nylock. You only need to warm it up to to 200 degrees C to melt the nylon washer, just remember to replace the nut when you put everything back together, if the nuts rusted on to the shock then it will need more heat and focused on the nut and not on the shock. Also the cadmium plating used on these nuts can cause a oxide layer to form and act as stud lock.

Im back again now ive fitted the new ones the cups that go on top of the mounts in the engine bay are not sitting right because the cups are to deep so they are sitting on the top of the struts before you do the bolt up. If anyone can have a look at it or do something as i cant really explain it there will be cash waiting

Best to put some pictures on here so we can see, some of these Golf spring kits are crap, and quite frankly just don't fit correctly.
