So, Did anybody actually go to 'run to the sun' this year? I know its not actually a genuine VW show, but I remember the years gone by when 'everybody' used to go to Newquay May bank-holiday who owned a VW. Guess poor weather over the last few years, credit crunch and the Chavs have put a lot of folks off.

Its the chavs and stag/hen parties Newquay used to be my favorite place in England I used to go every year and had good mates that lived there .We went up last summer it was great in the day surfing but come 8.00 the place just turns in to a nightmare just thousand of over exited drunk teenagers . It's a real shame.

I have a friend who spent thousands on restoring to spec a split beetle. Took it to rtts couple of years ago and within 2 hours of getting there it had been pinched, loaded on a truck and on its way to get split for parts. That, the chavs and the $hit music they play all weekend is enough for me to have no interest in the event

We would still head down to newquay for this event, not this year purely cos we have other plans, Sadly dude you will get crime and drunks anywhere there is a festival atmosphere without regulations, We don't stay at the main site anymore as this has turned into a chav pit, and this is due to the owners of the site bringing in the top name DJ's and thus bringing in 60-70% of the wrong crowd, and it has all been done for profit, so can't you blame the owners as this was a huge money making business oppo, not sure the local bobbys and public would agree The event is what you make it and we have been every year without any problems to newquay for that same week, and had a awesome time.

Got back from RTTS earlier this evening and had an excellent weekend. I have been venturing down there for the last 11 years now and can happily say that it is starting to return to how it was mainly because the organisers are making an effort with VW only areas. Last year they had one VW only area, this year two, both areas were full to the brim plus there were plenty of other dubs around the site.
As theanimalbus says, you get crime anywhere there are people, and RTTS is no exception. The number of Chavs seems to have reduced greatly, or it may just be that I have the ability to enjoy myself without allowing the odd 'irk' to ruin it for me, its no different from going shopping in any town centre these days, they are they, just ignore them.
I'll be going to RTTS next year, and the following years after, its a great weekend, even if the music is not your thing. The organisers have also been doing considerably more to try and cater for all tastes, its not just about the main arena with the 'top DJ's' theer are several other arenas now, including a silent disco, this is a good laugh, pair of headphones, couple of channels to choose from, people dancing/singing to different music aloud, but in silence. Live music arena, an arena with 70's music, and for the first time this year a new morph tent arena with a fantastic 3D light show, all good stuff.
