Hi, I've got a mk2 gti 8v and I'm just looking for some cheap ways to get more power from my lump She has an enclosed induction kit & straight through exhaust system already. I always give her a regular oil & filter change I'm just wondering if any of you have any ideas how to go about this? She has over 150k on the original engine & I'm not looking at spending much as I'm saving for a VR6 conversion atm I'd be grateful for any suggestions to try out Cheers, Pete

Pete basically you've answered your own question, your don't want to spend a lot and your changing the engine anyway. Well then in that case don't spend anything LOL, just save your pennies for the VR6 conversion, because at the end of the day the only person who will benefit for any additional mod's or work you do to your 8v lump will be the next owner, and you never recoup all the money spent on mod's and horse power tricks, of the home add on type.

cheers, I suppose there's only so far you can go before spending serious money & might aswell spend that trying to get some good traction to stop wheel spin when it has a vr

(40-50quid) you'll need a mk2 standard vac advance dizzy. also you'll need a lower pressure fuel pump, should see you good for another 20-odd BHP!

lol I dunno my mate told be about that polo, shame if it has been but then I'd have to block the injector holes, it's a good idea but I like the reliability of injection as she's my daily driver. I did consider ITBs on a VR6 conversion but was told it wouldn't fit

Just been looking at gsxr 1000 throttle bodies & seen a pic of one fitted, they look good & a fairly easy conversion. I might be able run them on the standard fuel pump too.... so watch this space when I have finished a few bits on my KA & door cards in my golf

lol he can't be bothered to do an engine conversion on the golf, especially bike carbs lol not too keen on the cost & what it does to your engine just as she's my daily driver when I can't be bothered to use the KA. Really need something that will be reliable. I've looked into Nos on my KA when I get round to an engine conversion though cheers Andy

haha I know mate, an engine conversion is definatley on the cars now as I have to rip the gearbox off after blowing the filler cap & some of the sorrounding are completley out . Don't know how i managed that driving slowly in reverse?? I've looked at my spare gti lump & have seen I will need to weld up the injector holes on the head before I can fit a Bike throttle body. Is there any special way this needs to be done or can I just block them off??
