Engine Lid Replacement - Update

We bought an engine lid from one of the autojumble stands at Stanford Hall...the question is -

Should we spray it the dodgy orange colour we have (that almost matches the van) before we fit it, or....

Should we leave it as it is and just stick it on? (It's blue at the moment!)

Well, we've (by which I mean Andy!!) taken off the old engine lid and removed the Reg plate. Andy has drilled two new holes in the new lid to take the reg plate, as it only had holes for a square plate, and ours is long.

Problem now is that we (well Andy again obviously!!!) can't get the hinges off the old lid. Put on plenty of WD40...now we wait to see if that helps!

Andy tried the heat thing with my 'creme brulee' blowtorch, but no luck.

We've ordered new hinges from JustKampers, so hopefully, we'll have it sorted soon!!

We've put the old one back on for now, as we're heading down to Newbury in the van tomorrow morning.

We're visiting friends who also have a van, so we'll take all the parts with us, and hope someone can help when we get there!

At last - we've done it!!!

Well, Andy has, anyway!! Although I did hold the odd screwdriver and give moral support!!!!

Used the new hinges we ordered from JK, after Andy had grinded the end of the hinge pin off, so he could just use the half we needed.

We've kept it blue...so now we have a blue bottom!!
